My Favourite Inspirational Quotes
Hello, hello! Thank you so much for your patience with the last few weeks. I have to say that the past few weeks have been pretty exhausting for me personally. I feel like I've gotten no escape from reality. One huge accomplishment I'd like to share though is that I finally started going to the gym again. I've been waiting a few years to return back to a CrossFit gym that I've loved since I first stepped in there. I am so excited to be back so that I can begin challenging myself physically and mentally again. I also just love to be a part of the community again. It surely has been a long three years with the pandemic, and of course, the day-to-day work, work, work.
Over the last few years, I've noticed that when I'm going through trials and tribulations in life...I can always resort to some inspirational quotes for a little guidance and support. I don't always use this method or approach when I'm feeling a lack of motivation or a tinge of insecurity or sadness, however, I have noticed a positive impact in the past. I'd like to share a few quotes that have impacted me the most in life and why.
"You define your own life. Don't let other people write your script." ~Oprah Winfrey
I find that sometimes we have a tendency of giving other people power over us and our lives. We give them power over the way we see ourselves and the way we think our lives should be. I've learned that giving people this type of power over our lives absolutely drains us. The feeling of being controlled or being out of control can be exhausting and scary. It can be especially scary if we give this control or power to the wrong people. I believe that it's important to remind ourselves that we write the script. We have control over most aspects in our lives and we are able to define who we are through the actions we take in life. No one else should hold the power to do that...no matter if they have good intentions or not. It's important to protect our energy an to protect the person we see in the mirror everyday. After all, we are the ones who have control over what we do in this life. We are the one's who will be there for us after each day, after each challenge, after each achievement, etc.
"Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud." ~Maya Angelou
Life can be super hard to navigate. There's many twists and turns, and ups and downs. I feel that if we are able to make a positive impact in someone's day...that's at least one positive thing they can think of no matter how bad things may get. I'm not saying it's going to fix everything, but I do believe that you get back what you put out into the universe. So, if you're doing the best you can to be that rainbow or light at the end of the tunnel, I do truly believe in my heart that eventually you will get back what you put out when you least expect it.
"Life is 10% what happened to us and 90% how we react to it." ~Dennis P. Kimbro
This one is a tough one to swallow. Let's just say it is extremely easy to react and very difficult to stop and think. I have to say that personally I've struggled with this one from day one. My anxiety makes me very reactive and irritable, so with huge changes or situations in my life, I have a tendency to blow up and go into fight-or-flight instantaneously. I don't enjoy being this way but I am working on improving it. Despite my inability to, with lack of a better word, chill out...I do understand that my mindset plays a key role in how I think about my life. I understand the importance of changing your mindset in order to change your life. If you give yourself too many excuses or focus on too much of the negative side of your life then well...that's not going to help anything and we're going to think of our lives in such a trash way. My only piece of advice for myself and of course for you guys as well...is that please remind yourself to stop and take a breath for some clarity and come to accept that life may be tough but we are tougher. Your mindset alters your reactions which makes it very important to train your brain to think more optimistically and compassionately.
"We become what we think about." ~Earl Nightingale
This ties into the last one a bit. I believe in manifestation. I believe that if we think about certain things or situations in life long enough, we unlock a certain energy that literally creates the same thing or situation you were focusing on. Although I do believe in this, I do feel like it's to a certain extent. I do understand the controversy behind it to a point. Besides manifestation in general....our brains are also very powerful things. If we constantly replay mean things about ourselves (or even others) we will convince ourselves that these mean things are true. I highly suggest going a day being mindful of the things you are telling yourself. It is only then you will be able to see what makes you feel good about yourself and what is causing harm.
"Everything you've ever wanted is on the other side of fear." ~George Addair
Fear is a very controlling and manipulative thing. I find that my fears are also exemplified when I am going through a strong anxious episode as well, but also just through daily life too. I often think about what we could possibly do without fear. The things we could achieve and the things we could do. Fear isn't all bad though. We naturally have this feeling or emotion because it is meant to keep up safe and on the right track. However, it can become a little over-bearing when you tie in childhood trauma, certain triggers, and certain mental health conditions. I think the biggest thing we need to remember is that we are strong, capable beings. We have the ability to overcome anything we set our minds to, or at least almost anything we set our minds to. Ya know...you won't catch me trying to lift cars and busses but I think that would be kinda cool lol. I suggest trying your best to learn how to cope with your fears and how to manage the stream of thoughts in your head that may be triggered by your fears. I believe the only way to do so is by identifying why you have these fears and what could trigger them. Then, to determine what helps them rather than triggers them.
Thank you so much for your time here guys. I hope this blog helped. Feel free to use any of these quotes on the days you need to feel most inspired. Our minds are very powerful things and I do believe it is our time to shine babbbyy. It is time to feed our minds with positivity, love, compassion, and good times. Let's leave the past in the past and focus on the present. You guys are amazing. Sending love your way. Cheers xx
